On Friday 6 September 2024, a memorial service was held at St Stephen’s Church for Mr Michael Spencer, who passed away earlier this year. Michael was the former Director of Music at Dulwich College Preparatory School (DCPS), as we were then known.
The memorial service was a touching and melodic occasion, honouring Michael’s love for music and his influence on others. The service included performances by past members of Michael’s choirs, current pupils at Dulwich Prep & Senior and renowned alumnus Ian Bostridge (Class of 1978), who came together to pay tribute to his memory.
In recognition of Michael’s 32 years of dedicated service to the school, his love of music, and his contribution to the design and creation of our current Music School building, we are delighted to share that the Concert Hall will now renamed The Spencer Hall in his honour.
