Hello, my name is Ben Quarrey. I had the privilege of attending Dulwich Prep London for four years, concluding my time there in 2018. Those four years were pivotal in my academic journey, laying the foundation for my subsequent success in secondary education. My experience at the school was truly exceptional, offering me opportunities to grow both academically and personally.
While at Dulwich Prep London, I actively participated in football and rugby, and I was honoured to serve as Head Boy in my final year. These experiences were incredibly rewarding and contributed significantly to my development. Since leaving, I continued my education at Whitgift School, where I studied until 2023. Upon completing my school education, I made the bold decision to pursue higher education in the United States, enrolling at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). It was a significant choice, but one I do not regret and have thoroughly enjoyed so far.
At UCLA, I have chosen to major in Political Science, with a focus on comparing American and British politics and exploring international relations in our current global order. While I didn’t study politics at Dulwich Prep London, it was there that I first discovered my passion for the humanities, particularly in History and Religious Studies. These subjects captured my interest during my years at the school and sparked the love for the humanities that I now pursue at UCLA.
Dulwich Prep London nurtured my academic interests and fostered a strong sense of independence within me. This sense of independence has been invaluable, providing me with the confidence to make important decisions on my own. I am incredibly grateful for the role that the school played in my development, both as a student and as an individual. The friendships I formed during my time there remain dear to me, and I will cherish them for life.
Reflecting on my journey, I realise that it all began in 2014 when I first arrived at Dulwich Prep London. I owe a great deal to this wonderful school for shaping who I am today, and I cannot praise it enough for the memories it has given me, even with Mr Spammer’s rugby drills still present in my nightmares.
