When a guest on Desert Island Discs John Lloyd mentioned that he had been an Ojbwas at prep school. Tribes are unique to Dulwich Prep London and Dulwich Prep Cranbrook, so he had to have been a pupil here!  When contacted he responded warmly and has proved to be a loyal supporter of the school, delivering a memorable address at the Old Boys' Dinner in the Long Room at Lords and then accepting the postion of President. All the more surprising when you realise that he had only been here for a year, before his father shipped the family off to Malta to his new naval posting.

John Lloyd CBE is a comedy television producer, radio presenter and writer. After a brief career as a fire-extinguisher salesman, which ended abruptly when he set fire to a camera shop in Harlow, John went up to Cambridge to read Law. He was hired by the BBC aged 22 and was the producer of The News Quiz, Quote…Unquote, To The Manor Born, Not the Nine O’Clock News, Blackadder, Spitting Image and QI. As a writer, he helped Douglas Adams out with the first series of The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy and has written almost 30 books. In the late 80s and 90s, he directed TV commercials, including the iconic Barclaycard ads with Rowan Atkinson, which eventually gave rise to the Johnny English movies. Mr. Bean was also John’s idea. Due to a strange anomaly, he has won more BAFTA awards than anyone in the world except Dame Judi Dench. He currently presents Radio 4’s The Museum of Curiosity, now running up to its 15thseries.
